During a recent visit to the US, Samsung Electronics Chairman, Lee Jae-yong, met with the CEOs of Meta, Amazon, and Qualcomm to discuss potential commercial ventures in AI and cloud computing.
Lee had scheduled the high-profile meetings for his two-week business vacation in the United States.
According to the company, the CEO of Samsung visited the biggest economy in the world to keep an eye on the company’s international profile under intensifying rivalry in the IT sector both domestically and internationally.
Samsung released a statement stating that Mark Zuckerberg of Meta invited Jay Y. Lee to his house on Tuesday, where they talked about artificial intelligence (AI) as well as virtual and augmented reality.
According to Samsung, Lee also had meetings with the CEOs of Qualcomm and Amazon, Andy Jassy and Cristiano Amon, to talk about semiconductor collaboration.
Specifically, they talked about memory chips for cloud services and data centres run by Amazon, as well as contract manufacturing for Qualcomm’s mobile processors.
The South Korean IT giant also stated that Lee’s talks on collaboration with the three American companies will inform a company-wide strategic conference scheduled for the end of June.
“Samsung is a foundry giant and holds an important position in the global economy, the factors that can serve as critical points in cooperation with Samsung,” the Meta CEO was quoted as saying in a statement released by Samsung Electronics on Thursday.
