Dr Yakubu Sani Wudi, a Nigerian associate professor based in Saudi Arabia, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not unveiling his ministers after 50 days in office.
Dr Wudi, an academic at the prestigious King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in Dhahran in the Middle East, said he thought Tinubu was ready for the challenge ahead.
He said the president’s actions in the first two weeks of his administration gave the impression that he would appoint his ministers quickly and settle down for the business of governance.
His words:
”Nobody has expected Mr. President would spend 50 days in office without unveiling his Ministers. Judging from how fast he acted in his first two weeks, we thought everything was ready with him.
”Is leading Nigeria this much complicated? We shud all apologise to President Buhari.”
The wait for former President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministers lasted 166 days.
At the time, critics said the delay showed the unpreparedness of the then-president.
On Thursday, July 20, there were rumours that President Tinubu’s ministerial list was already in the Senate.
The news was a hoax as the Senate did not deliberate on any presidential appointment.
There are, however, expectations that the president will send his ministerial list to the red chambers before the month ends.
Constitutionally, Tinubu is expected to send the list to the Senate before his 60th day as president of Nigeria.
Observers say such delays are due to intense lobbying by politicians keen on serving the Federal Executive Council.
