About seven students studying at the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) who were kidnapped by bandits have been freed.
The students were released by the investigative efforts of the military and other law enforcement agencies.
The students union Government of the university confirmed the release of the students on Sunday in a statement to Newsmen.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night while the students were in their respective off-campus rental lodges in Gandu.
Following the abduction of the students by armed men, the university students were seen in a mass protest for the rescue of their colleagues.
During the protests, the students called for the release of their kidnapped colleagues and demanded that security measures be taken for better security.
Gandu village is a close area neighbouring the school, it is said to accommodate thousands of students as there are no sufficient hostels in the school, in recent times the students, villagers and businesses located in that area have been disturbed by criminals.
Presently the rescued students have been admitted to the school’s clinic for treatment.
