The South East Media Professional Group has endorsed the aspirations of Senator Godswill Akpabio to be the next Senate President.
Emenike Iroegbu, leader of the group, said Akpabio is the right man to lead the 10th Senate in the incoming administration.
He said the group aligns with the stance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which zoned the seat to the south-south region and, specifically, to Akpabio.
Akpabio, 60, is the immediate past minister of Niger Delta affairs and a former Minority Leader in the Senate.
The group said Akpabio is fit for the job because he has the following qualities:
1). Akpabio, a former Akwa Ibom state governor, has not only distinguished himself excellently but also has a passion for Nigeria.
2). Akpabio has legislative skills and is loyal to the APC by stepping down for the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, during the presidential primary election.
3). Akpabio is versatile and has built political bridges across Nigeria
4). Akpabio’s Senate presidency would rewrite the National Assembly and Nigeria positively.
5). Akpabio has sterling development and pan-Nigerian credentials.
In a statement by its national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, the APC revealed that Akpabio is the preferred candidate of the ruling party as the next Senate President.
He also urged party members to support the choice of the APC and the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
