Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a prominent Nigerian legislator, has issued a heartfelt plea to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), urging them to reconsider their decision to embark on a nationwide strike.
In a video released today, Senator Kalu expressed his concern that any actions disrupting economic activities would have severe repercussions for the nation.
The former governor of Abia state implored the Nigeria Labour Congress to reconsider their stance on initiating a nationwide strike.
He emphasised the potential adverse effects of such a strike on the nation’s economy and well-being.
According to him, any disruptions could inflict significant harm on the country.
He further stated that the best interests of the nation should be a paramount consideration, especially during times of economic challenges and uncertainties.
His words:
”I plead with them not to go ahead with the strike. The budget is coming; workers’ salaries will be reviewed. It’s just a matter of a few more weeks or months.”
It remains to be seen how the Nigeria Labour Congress will respond to this plea as they continue to advocate for the rights and welfare of workers across the country.
The workers had earlier announced they would embark on a nationwide strike from Tuesday, October 3.
