Senator Shehu Sani, a prominent Nigerian politician and former senator, has taken to social media to express his views on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In a post on X, he urged Nigeria to strongly condemn the recent terror attacks on civilian targets inside Israel and to advocate for establishing a Palestinian state based on the two-state solution formula.
Senator Sani called for a “categorical statement” from Nigeria, unequivocally condemning the acts of terrorism that have targeted civilian populations within Israel.
In addition to condemning the attacks, Senator Sani urged Nigeria to demand an end to the occupation of Palestinian lands.
Senator Sani also emphasised the importance of advocating for the immediate realisation of a Palestinian state.
”Nigeria should issue a categorical statement condemning the cruel terror attacks on civilian targets inside Israel and unambiguously demand an end to the occupation of Palestinian lands and the immediate realisation of the Palestinian state.
”We should call for peace based on the two-state solution formula,” he stated.
Senator Sani’s call aligns with the international consensus that a two-state solution is a viable path to lasting peace in the region, with Israel and Palestine coexisting as independent and sovereign nations.
Nigeria has historically played a role in international diplomacy, and Senator Sani’s remarks align with the country’s commitment to promoting peace and stability on the global stage.
