Bastion, a New York-based stablecoin infrastructure provider, announced on September 24 that it had raised $14.6 million in a strategic funding round, bringing its total capital raised to more than $40 million. The round drew participation from Coinbase Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, Samsung Next, a16z crypto, and Hashed.

Bastion offers “Stablecoin-as-a-Service,” helping companies issue their own digital dollars while staying compliant with regulatory standards. It is licensed by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), a designation that boosts its credibility for enterprises exploring blockchain tools.

“The evolution of our financial system will continue to accelerate as digital assets and stablecoin adoption proliferate, and Bastion is positioned to help businesses build world-changing financial products,” said Nassim Eddequiouaq, Bastion’s co-founder and CEO.

The involvement of Sony and Samsung marks a shift from typical crypto-native backers to mainstream consumer electronics and entertainment giants. Analysts note that branded stablecoins could enable new use cases such as frictionless payments in gaming, digital rewards programs, or cross-border services. While the funding amount is modest compared to larger crypto raises, the investor mix highlights growing interest in stablecoins as tools for customer engagement rather than just trading instruments.

As global stablecoin adoption accelerates, the competition may increasingly move beyond crypto protocols to multinational brands experimenting with digital payment and loyalty solutions.
