South African Rapper AKA shot dead outside restaurant

South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, has been shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.

He was gunned down on Friday night alongside another man while they were walking toward their car from the restaurant. AKA’s bodyguard was also wounded in the shooting.

The singer’s death was confirmed by his family in a statement via Twitter on Saturday, February 11.

“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son.“Our son was loved, and he gave love in return,” his parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, in the statement posted on AKA’s Twitter account.

Police in Durban described the incident as a drive-by shooting on Florida Road.

AKA had sparked controversy after he supported xenophobic attacks on Nigerians based in South Africa.

This prompted Nigerian singer, Burna Boy to sever ties with the rapper and vowed never to visit South Africa again.

 In another news, a female South African rapper, Gigi Lamayne, has declared that she is in love with Nigerian rapper Burna Boy.

The rapper made the statement in a tweet.

Burna Boy reacted by linking the

 Twitter post. The reaction of the Grammy award winner made Lamayne ecstatic.
