Spanish banking group, BBVA, has announced a strategic partnership with ChatGPT maker, OpenAI, to distribute generative AI tools among its thousands of employees.
Ricardo Martín Manjón, global head of data, BBVA confirmed the partnership in a joint statement seen by Newsng on Friday.
The firm with its headquarters in Bilbao reported that it had begun assigning 3,000 ChatGPT Enterprise licences to workers running its central services in Spain. It also aims to eventually grant licences to workers in the group’s other “main countries.”
As per the deal, ChatGPT’s core technology—its huge language models—will receive regular upgrades and training from OpenAI.
OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2022, and since then, it has gained recognition for its capacity to produce content and respond to intricate commercial inquiries.
In its first five days of debut, the service attracted over a million users, breaking all previous records.
The bank is the biggest financial institution in Mexico, it leads the Spanish market, it is present in over 25 countries, and it has franchises in South America and Turkey.
Manjón in the statement said: “We believe that generative AI, when used safely and responsibly, is a game-changer in how we support our customers in their decisions and offer personalised services. It also happens to stimulate creativity among our employees.”
Newsng gathered that for the past ten years, BBVA has dedicated particular development centres, dubbed AI Factories, to advanced analytics and artificial intelligence. These centres are home to 1,000 data scientists.
Brad Lightcap, COO of OpenAI, expresses enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re excited to partner with BBVA, one of Europe’s top banks, to deliver the capabilities of ChatGPT Enterprise at scale. AI streamlines mundane tasks, boosting creativity, efficiency, and productivity.”
We earlier reported a recent partnership between OpenAI and News Corp., a multinational news publisher under the control of the Murdoch family, that permits it to display news content when users ask questions in ChatGPT.
