Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has been the target of an official loan bid from Valencia CF, a Spanish powerhouse, as the team looks to strengthen its offensive line in preparation for the 2025–2026 La Liga season.

Valencia is keen to transfer the Nigerian international to the Mestalla and has made a formal offer to Real Sociedad, where Sadiq currently plays, according to people familiar with the negotiations.

The Nigerian international made a significant impact at Mestalla Stadium during the second half of the previous season, scoring five goals in 16 league games while playing for Carlos Corberán’s team.

Valencia is prepared to cover the forward’s full wages for the duration of the loan, as Sadiq has also been linked with Turkish team Samsunspor, as well as Spanish teams Elche and Girona.

It is hardly surprising that the club is interested in Sadiq. Valencia is eager to add speed, physicality, and proven La Liga experience to their frontline after struggling to score goals in recent seasons.

The 28-year-old Nigerian striker, who has previously played for Real Sociedad, Partizan Belgrade, and Almería, among other teams, fits that description.

Sadiq, a highly regarded attacker with a powerful hold-up game and an eye for goal, has displayed glimpses of his former self despite suffering an ACL injury soon after joining Sociedad in 2022.
