Senator John Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development in Nigeria, has commended Afriking Homes for assuming responsibility for rehabilitating a training pitch at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The move was part of the Ministry of Sports’ Adopt-A-Pitch initiative.
In a ceremony held on the 30th of November, 2023, Afriking Homes proudly handed over the rejuvenated pitch, marking a pivotal moment for Nigerian athletes.
Expressing his delight at this commendable effort, Senator Enoh highlighted the importance of private sector involvement in sports development.
He encouraged corporate entities to join hands with the Ministry of Sports, emphasizing that the government has safeguarded all interests through the National Sports Industry Policy, which perceives sports as a viable business avenue.
”I encourage corporate bodies and the private sector to participate in sports development through collaborations with the Ministry of Sports.
”As a government, we have all interests protected with the National Sports Industry Policy, which sees sports as business,” he stated.
The rejuvenated pitch’s inauguration also coincided with a remarkable feat achieved by the Nigerian female national football team, the Super Falcons.
The minister hailed the female players, noting that they exhibited exceptional prowess by securing a resounding victory, triumphing over Cape Verde with a stellar 5-0 win.
