The minister of sports, Senator John Owan Enoh, has formed a Ministerial Strategic Committee to ensure Nigeria’s optimal participation and readiness for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The committee, led by Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar, as chairman and Amaka Ashiofu, as member/secretary, comprises seasoned individuals with diverse expertise.

Members include Dr. Paul Onyeudo, Mr. Patrick Okeke, Mrs. Thecia Opara, Engr. Abolore Alanamu, Mr. Olufehinti Olusegun, Mr. Tunde Popoola, Mr. Suleiman Issa, Mr. Olumide Bamiduro, Mr. Brendan Ndifon, Prince Ebuta Ayuk, Barr. Danladi Ibrahim, and Mr. Abubakaar Waziri.

The committee’s primary objective is to recommend strategic approaches and operational plans to ensure Nigeria’s successful representation at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

They are tasked with defining shared objectives and reviewing the performances of National Sports Federations concerning medal projections for each sport.

”The members are aware of the terms of reference of the committee which charges them to discharge their responsibility for the collective good of the country, including determining shared objectives/targets and reviewing performances of National Sports Federations vis-a-vis the medal projections for each sport,” the minister said in a terse statement.
