Spotify hikes U.S. Premium Streaming Plans, the second time in a year

Spotify has announced a second price hike in less than a year for its premium membership levels in the US.

Within the next month, existing Spotify customers will get email notices about the impending pricing adjustment, the company revealed.

After June 3, 2024, new customers will be automatically billed at the new rate. After their trial period expires, current users on a free trial will be charged the new $11.99 monthly rate.

Newsng gathered that the originally priced plan at $10.99 a month is now available for $11.99.

That indicates that compared to rates before the previous year’s increase, the cost of a Spotify Duo membership has increased by 30% in only a year.

Over a year, Spotify Family has also climbed by 25%, while Spotify Premium has increased by 20%.

Along with the US, Spotify expanded its Premium pricing in July of last year to about 50 additional countries, including Canada, several European markets (including the UK and France), as well as markets in Asia, South America, and Australasia.

The majority of other international music streaming services, such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music, had already raised the cost of their membership plans when Spotify raised its fees last year.

“So that we can continue to invest in and innovate on our product features and bring users the best experience, we occasionally update our prices,” says Spotify in a blog post announcing the price changes. “Over the next month, subscribers in the US will receive an email explaining what this update means for their subscription.”
