Stanley Nwabali rallies support for Victor Osimhen after failed move away from Napoli

Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rallied support for his teammate Victor Osimhen after his failed deadline move to either Chelsea or Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia.

Recall that at 23:00 on Friday, the European summer transfer window closed, and Osimhen was thought to have finalized his deal to Stamford Bridge before the end of the day.

However, a Chelsea delegation left Napoli FC after failing to reach an agreement with Osimhen, according to Italian football transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano.

The striker was reportedly offered a contract by Chelsea worth €155,000 per week, which is less than what he is now paid at Napoli, but he refused to accept the wage decrease.

Due to the transfer drama that transpired on deadline day, Osimhen has been left off of Napoli’s match-day squad roster as a result of his failed move to either Chelsea or Al Ahli.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku, the new Napoli signing, is now sporting the number 9 shirt, which is often worn by Osimhen who is currently the best player in Africa.

Osimhen will remain at Napoli and will not be included in the first-team roster as of right now, with the European transfer market closed and no deal coming from Saudi Arabia within the next three days.

While reacting to the uncertainty that Osimhen is faced with at the moment, Nwabali in a post on his X page offered support to Osimhen over his failure to secure a move away from Napoli.

“All great Legends and all Hall Of Fame fighters have their storylines. Good, bad, and worst kinds of views from people who have no idea what the real story is and what it takes. I would define a myth as a story that has survived. VO9,” he wrote on his X page.
