Trading activity on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) kicked off the new week with a total of 1,075,706,912 shares traded in 64,664 deals, as market value gulped N63,956,406,909.24, news.ng reports.
According to market data, Monday’s trading recorded a 15% rise in volume of shares traded, a 22% increase in market turnover, and a 30% improvement in deals executed.
Market capitalisation on the NGX stood at N122.1 trillion.
Monday’s trading improvements were driven by activity in 134 listed equities, with 57 gainers and 28 losers recorded.
Among the gainers, Aradel Holdings led the chart with a 10% appreciation in its share price to close at N1,096.70 per share. Beta Glass Company also recorded a 10% gain, closing at N453.20 per share.
Another gainer at the close of Monday’s trading was Oando, whose share price rose by 10% to close at N44.00. Ikeja Hotel also recorded a 10% increase, closing at N41.80.
Others included Zichis Agro Allied Industries, whose share price closed at N11.88, representing a 10% increase, while Jaiz Bank recorded a 10% gain to close at N9.13.
On the flip side, RT Briscoe suffered the largest loss, down 9.99%, as its share price closed at N15.68 per share. DEAP Capital Management & Trust Plc declined by 9.91% to close at N7.64, while Caverton Offshore Support Group lost 9.62% to close the day at N7.05.
Others included Guinea Insurance, whose share price closed at N1.37, down 9.27%. Tantalizers shed 8.11% to close at N5.10, while C&I Leasing Plc closed the day at N7.20, down 7.69%.
In terms of trading volume on Monday, Access Holdings topped the chart with 86.7 million shares traded, followed by Oando with 73.5 million, Zenith Bank with 69.3 million, and Mutual Benefits Assurance with 67.1 million.
