Ryan Alebiosu could return to action for the Super Eagles in Saturday’s AFCON 2025 third-place playoff against Egypt after recovering from injury.

The Blackburn Rovers defender made his senior debut for Nigeria at the tournament after being named in the starting lineup for the Super Eagles’ final Group C fixture against Uganda. Alebiosu completed the full 90 minutes in that encounter but sustained a deep cut to his right leg during the match.

The injury ruled him out of subsequent games, sparking concerns that he could be sidelined for up to a month. However, those fears have now eased, with the 23-year-old confirming that he has recovered and returned to full training.

Speaking after Friday’s training session, Alebiosu expressed optimism about featuring against Egypt. “I’m good,” he said. “Obviously, the physio has been building me up for two or three weeks. Everything is good now, and I’m back on the pitch for today’s session, hopefully to build myself up and get some minutes tomorrow at least.”

His potential availability will be a welcome boost for the Super Eagles as they look to finish the AFCON 2025 campaign on a positive note in the third-place playoff.
