Super Falcons defender Onyiyechi Zogg has joined A-League Women’s soccer club Perth Glory on a one-year contract from Swiss club Servette.
The 27-year-old player who is excited about the opportunity to play in the Australian Women’s League says that she cannot wait to meet with her new teammates.
Onyiyechi also noted in her first interview after joining the club that she had heard so much about the quality and level of the ALW and always wanted to experience it.
“Once my manager told me about the possibility of going to Perth Glory, I jumped at the opportunity,” she told the club’s official website.
“I have heard so much about the quality and level of the ALW and always wanted to experience it and now to be able to do this with Perth Glory is such a fantastic opportunity.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting my teammates and Coach in person and to being an effective contributor to the club’s success.”
Perth’s head coach, Stephen Peters, is confident that Zogg’s skill and experience will be valuable in enhancing the team’s defence this season and in the future.
“Onyinyechi is a technical and athletic defender who has performed at the highest level in Europe and we are thrilled to have secured her services,” he said.
“We certainly feel that she has the potential to make a major impression in the ALW this year.
“Her pedigree makes her a great addition to our squad and we hope that she develops into a defensive cornerstone for the club in the upcoming season and possibly beyond.”
