Taraba state Governor Agbu Kefas has proposed a N311.4b budget proposal to the state House of Assembly for review. The budget is meant to cater for the 2024 fiscal year.
The governor explained the success achieved from the 2023 budget and also the drawdowns of the budget, he explained that the drawdowns experienced from the 2023 budget amounted to 75% of the budget while the success rate was only 25%.
Gov Kefas pointed out that the current success rate recorded from every sector such as health, work and infrastructure, education and water resources was taken note of in the 2024 budget creation.
The Governor while presenting the budget explained that out of the above sectors, the state experienced great improvement in health, agriculture and healthcare aid sponsored by 2023 budget.
The Governor added that the 2024 budget was compiled with a great concern for maintainable growth and development amongst several sectors.
The 2024 budget was aimed at enhancing the education sector, power sector, health sector, environmental conservation sector, mining sector, infrastructure sector, security sector, and agricultural sector respectively.
The budget consists of money allocated to each sector in percentages with governance having the highest budget allocation of 21.0%, education followed with 13.9%, health received a 10.6% budget, infrastructure had 8%, agriculture 6.1%, energy sector got 6.5%, environment was allocated 5.2% and lastly security with a 2.9% budget allocation.
