Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the company will begin developing and employing humanoid robots next year.
The tech billionaire shared this on X (formerly Twitter) with his millions of followers.
He said back in April that the Tesla robot Optimus might go on sale as early as the end of 2025 and that it would begin performing activities in the plant by the end of the year.
The business released a video this year showing the bipedal robot of the second generation expertly folding a T-shirt at its headquarters.
Other companies that have been working on humanoid robot development are Boston Dynamics and Honda.
Experts claimed that these robots are thought to be a viable way to handle labour shortages and handle monotonous, hazardous, or repetitive work, especially in manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing.
The development follows closely the day before Tesla was supposed to disclose its most recent financial figures.
More than 5% was gained by the company’s shares at the close of Monday’s New York trading session.
Musk is also involved in the AI industry; his start-up, xAI, is focused on enhancing the Grok big language model and encouraging user adoption.
He earlier informed investors in April that Tesla’s humanoid robot project, Optimus, “will be in the factory doing useful tasks by the end of the year. Optimus will be more valuable than anything else Tesla does combined.”
We earlier reported that the company was postponing the robotaxi unveiling and that this was due to his request for a “significant design modification to the front.”
The Tesla CEO claimed in April that the Robotaxi would be unveiled in October, but Bloomberg reported last week that the announcement was scheduled for October, citing anonymous insiders
