A police officer attached to Titi Abubakar has attracted the ire of the Nigerian Police Force after she was pictured carrying the handbag of her principal.
The wife of the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) attended an event in Abuja on Thursday, October 6. While delivering a speech at the occasion, her police officer stood beside her carrying her handbag.
The incident sparked a row on social media after some Nigerians questioned why the police officer was subjected to such ridicule.
In response, the spokesperson for the force, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, via his Twitter handle, described the incident as unacceptable.
“This is not acceptable.” We have commenced necessary action on this. We will fish her out and get her across to the principal. The AIG Special Protection Unit has been contacted to assist us to get the woman police. “Gradually, we will sanitise the system,” he said.
“How can an orderly be carrying a bag for her madam, I am sure the madam will have a PA, and that is the PA’s job. It’s an absurdity and this is condemned in its totality.”
However, a few Twitter users defended the orderly, saying she was only trying to protect her job.
