Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been officially charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
According to authorities, the alleged incidents occurred between 2021 and 2022 and involved three different women. Two of the rape allegations relate to one woman, three others concern a second, and the sexual assault charge is linked to a third.
The Ghanaian international has denied all allegations and, according to his legal representative, “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
Partey, who parted ways with Arsenal on Monday after joining the North London club in October 2020, is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5.
His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, stated:
“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him.
He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.
He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”
The Met Police revealed that the case was initiated in February 2022, following the first report of a rape allegation.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is overseeing the case, appealed to the public for further cooperation:
“Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward.

Partey, 32, made 130 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, scoring nine goals. He also featured in 12 Champions League matches last season, as the team reached the semi-finals before being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain.
He has earned over 50 caps for Ghana and participated in the national team’s World Cup qualifiers in March.
