TikTok revealed that it is integrating group conversations onto its platform, a move that appears to be an attempt to compete with well-known messaging services like Apple’s Messages and Meta’s WhatsApp.
While you could send direct messages to other users on TikTok, group chats allow you to initiate conversations with numerous users at once. You can form or join groups with up to 32 members using the new feature. In real-time, group members can talk, share videos, and remark on TikTok videos.
Group conversations will not be accessible to individuals who are less than 13 or 15 years old, similar to direct messaging. There will be limitations on the use of group chats for older age group (16–17).
Furthermore, users in the 16–17 age range are limited to joining group chats that involve at least one mutual buddy. When they make a group chat, they have to manually examine and accept each new member.
Although the new group chat function “isn’t currently available everywhere,” according to its owner ByteDance, its support page doesn’t offer any information on when that might change.
By pressing the “Chat” button at the top of your inbox and choosing “More options,” you may start a group conversation.
After that, you may click “Start group chat” after choosing which friends you wish to add to the group. You can tap on an invite and select “Join group” to join an already-existing group chat.
Newsng understands that everyone now has access to muting and blocking features on TikTok, providing users more control over group discussions.
Additionally, if any messages or groups are breaking any rules on the platform, you will be able to report them.
We earlier reported that users can now make purchases through TikTok without leaving the app through direct integration of Amazon shopping into the platform.
