TikTok revealed on Monday that certain regions are seeing the rollout of its revamped “Subscription” monetisation service for qualified creators.
The Bytedance-owned short-video-making company disclosed this on its official page.
As per the release, for a monthly charge, creators can provide their most active followers with exclusive benefits, one-of-a-kind experiences, and access to a members-only community through subscription.
By utilizing the feature, content creators may further strengthen the genuine ties they have already made with their audience by offering a dedicated area for improving these connections and stimulating deeper levels of interaction.
In addition to strengthening their community, creators can accelerate their growth on TikTok and boost their monthly income by providing premium experiences.
“Today, we’re excited to share that the updated Subscription feature is rolling out to eligible creators in select regions, with plans to expand to more markets in the coming weeks,” the company stated.
Newsng gathered that The formal launch coincides with TikTok’s announcement from March that it would rebrand its LIVE Subscription monetisation tool as “Subscription” and shortly make it available to non-LIVE producers as well.
TikTok’s response to Patreon, a platform for creators that enables users to share exclusive content with paying subscribers, is its subscription service.
The feature on TikTok also faces competition from YouTube’s channel memberships and Instagram’s subscription services, which let creators increase their revenue by providing viewers with access to more content and benefits.
Selected regions, including Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the United States, can access the new feature. In the upcoming weeks, the company said, it intends to provide the feature to more markets.
We earlier reported that TikTok is integrating group conversations onto its platform, a move that appears to be an attempt to compete with well-known messaging services like Apple’s Messages and Meta’s WhatsApp.
