Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu paid a visit to the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally.
Tnubu was accompanied by his running mate Kashim Shettima, APC’s national chairman Abdullahi Adamu, as well as Governors Babjide Sanwo-Olu, Dave Umahi and Abubakar Bagudu of Lagos, Ebonyi and Kebbi respectively.
Ex-governors Adams Oshiomhole, Kayode Fayemi as well as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva; among others.
However, a former Minister of Transportation and ex-governor of Rivers, Rotimi Amaechi and APC’s gubernatorial candidate Tonye Cole did not attend the meeting.
It is understood that Rivers Governor Wike has told his political allies to support Tinubu ahead of the presidential polls due to his rift with the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The G5 governors have aired their grievances with the PDP, demanding that the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu should step down for a Southerner before supporting Atiku for the presidential elections.
