President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that synergy between the federal and state governments would help in tackling insecurity in the country, as it has become a major challenge facing the nation, news.ng reports.
The president made this known when he received Vice President Kashim Shettima and 23 governors at his Lagos home for Eid el-Fitr on Sunday evening.
While admitting the severity of the growing insecurity challenges in the country, Tinubu noted that he is making efforts to tackle the scourge, as security is germane to nation-building.
“The next phase of our struggle is staring us in the face. It’s the challenge of insecurity in this country. And I’m making all the efforts to ensure it is us collectively that we share the joy and be proud of, you know, featuring over tyranny.
“Insecurity is an enemy of development, progress, and prosperity. That’s what insecurity is all about,” he stated.
The President assured governors that he will do everything within his network to boost operational capacity among the various security agencies following his conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“To me, I can commit myself to further strengthen my contact, the network that is necessary. One of the major discussions is equipment and support.
“I can report to you, yesterday again, I had a lengthy discussion with Emmanuel Macron, their collaboration with all,” he said.
