President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday named a suspended Delta People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chiedu Ebie chieftain as the chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In addition, the president named Samuel Ogbuku as Executive Director of the Commission alongside 15 additional candidates to serve on the board.
Mr. Ebie had served as the Delta state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, under the Ifayin Okowa administration.
Ajuri Ngelale, a spokesperson for the president, said the appointment would take effect immediately.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new Board and Management team of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), inclusive of the following Board and Management team members,” the statement read partly,” Mr Ajuri said.
The President further stated that, in keeping with his Renewed Hope agenda, he anticipates the new Board and Management team to ensure a new era of successful administration in the NDDC.
In April, following the conclusion of the presidential and governorship, Mr Ebie was suspended by the opposition PDP due to allegations of anti-party activity.
The PDP said Mr Ebie’s suspension was in accordance with Section 58(F) of the PDP Constitution.
