Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presidential flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has urged religious leaders to preach fairness ahead of the general elections in February.
In a statement released through his media aide Abdulaziz Abdulaziz on Monday, January 23, 2023, the APC’s presidential aspirant stressed it will deepen unity ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The former Lagos state governor added that religious leaders should not be swayed by sentiments but base their opinion on facts about individual contesting.

The statement was resealed during a meeting of Muslim leaders in Bauchi state that read:
“Our scriptures demand justice of us as believers. May we always honor that demand.
“That principle of fairness and justice also requires that leadership of society should be based on the quality of one’s ideas, character and accomplishments, rather than on traits unrelated to the ability to lead and govern justly, honestly.
“The recorded history of our faith shows how our Noble Prophet led a plural community. He did not confer special advantage to his own tribe, or clan.”
