To transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, convened a crucial meeting with key stakeholders recently in Abuja.
The meeting aimed to fast-track the implementation of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme – Agro-Pocket (NAGS-AP).
Participants included representatives from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Flour Mills of Nigeria, and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Discussions focused on enhancing agricultural productivity, particularly through the distribution of high-quality seeds and inputs for the upcoming 2024/2025 dry season.
While speaking, Edun emphasized the urgency of improving input systems to boost yields and ensure food security nationwide.
He expressed optimism that the initiative will stimulate agricultural growth, empower farmers, and align with the Tinubu-led administration’s efforts to drive economic development through agriculture.
On its part, the NAGS-AP team also presented a comprehensive work plan to achieve immediate results.
News.ng recently reported that the Federal Government has expedited the integration of the Agricultural Insurance Scheme into the NAGS-AP.
The initiative aims to enhance the sustainability of Nigeria’s food systems and ensure food security across the country.
Senator Abdullahi Sabi Aliyu, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, announced this development during the Agricultural Insurance Train-the-Trainer Workshop held recently in Orozo, Abuja.
