Prominent northern businessman Mahdi Shehu has accused famous lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, of maintaining silence over the certificate saga of President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu has found himself at the centre of allegations of forgery after the Chicago State University (CSU) disowned the certificate the president presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission before the 2023 general elections.
The allegations of forgery suggest a significant legal and ethical concern, potentially tarnishing the president’s reputation.
Shehu wrote on X:
”On Tinubu’s forgery: Why is Falana silent? He is said to be a radical lawyer. We know white colour radicalism and that of under the table.
”As we believe he will never condemn forgery, we are pleasantly waiting for his appointment as a board chairman of NPA/NIMASA. Sorry for that wig.”
Many have expressed surprise over Falana’s lack of commentary on the issue, given his reputation as a staunch advocate for justice and the rule of law.
Falana’s silence has prompted speculation and raised questions about his stance on the matter, with some suggesting that his well-established principles might be at odds with publicly addressing the situation.
As the allegations of forgery surrounding President Tinubu continue to make headlines, Nigerians are keenly awaiting further details and developments related to the case.
Experts say the implications of the allegations could be significant, both for Tinubu and the Supreme Court judgement concerning the outcome of the 2023 general elections.
