Wilfred Ndidi, the talented Nigerian midfielder, is reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur for a potential move next summer.
News.ng learnt that the Nigerian’s deal with Leicester expires at the end of the current campaign, a potential renewal would mostly depend on whether Maresca can keep his squad in the running for an early Premier League return.
After Leicester was demoted from the Premier League the previous season, Ndidi was linked to a move away from the King Power, but players like James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Timothy Castagne moved to elite clubs.
The centre midfielder has made 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season, tallying four assists and three goals. With 13 victories in their first 16 games, he has assisted Leicester in taking the lead in the standings.
Due to their financial difficulties, Barcelona is attempting to sign the Super Eagles midfielder for free, as they have done for the previous two seasons.
Barcelona will be entitled to sign Ndidi to a contract in January in anticipation of a free transfer the following summer, under the Bosman ruling.
The Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, has reportedly shown a strong interest in Ndidi, so the Catalans are not the only team interested in the midfielder.
Teamtalk, a UK newspaper, reports that Postecoglou is open to bringing Ndidi to the team when his contract ends in the summer since he does not think Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the best fit for his system.
Although reports suggest that Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus, who have all inquired about signing Ndidi during the summer, are still considering the possibility of signing the player when his contract expires, Barcelona and Tottenham are not the only teams keeping an eye on the 26-year-old’s contract situation.
