Trans-Nationwide Express Names Oluwatosin Ogbemi Acting MD After Emecheta’s Exit

Trans-Nationwide Express Plc has announced a leadership change following the resignation of its Managing Director, Mr. Eric Emecheta, and the subsequent appointment of Mrs. Oluwatosin Ogbemi as Acting Managing Director/CEO.

This was disclosed in a statement sent to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) published on the exchange website on Monday.

Francis Asuquo, Company Secretary, said: “TRANS-NATIONWIDE EXPRESS PLC (the Company) would like to announce that its Managing Director, Mr. Eric Emecheta, has resigned from the Board of the Company with effect from 30th July, 2025, and his resignation has been duly accepted by the Board.”

The company acknowledged Emecheta’s contributions during his time at the helm of the organization.

Asuquo stated: “The Company wishes to express its profound gratitude to Mr. Eric Emecheta for his services during his tenure as Managing Director/CEO of the Company and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Announcing the new appointment, the company secretary revealed: “Also, we like to inform the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the general public that Mrs. Oluwatosin Ogbemi has been appointed as the Ag. Managing Director/CEO of the Company with effect from 16th September, 2025. Oluwatosin is a graduate of Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos.”

The statement highlighted Ogbemi’s extensive background and qualifications for the role.

According to Asuquo: “She is a seasoned strategic thinker with a wealth of experience spanning across various sectors. Tosin has had the privilege of overseeing different aspects of the business, from Corporate Services, Operations, to Business Development, alongside the Managing Director, providing strategic leadership for the entire organization.”

The company secretary further outlined the new acting MD’s professional development and credentials: “She has attended several executive trainings, including ‘The Role of Non-Executive Directors’ (IOD, 2013), Senior Management Programme (SMP 78, 2021) at the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS), where she is also currently undergoing her Executive MBA Programme. She is also a chartered member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).”
