Former President Donald Trump and his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, have introduced a new cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), aiming to position the United States as a global leader in digital finance.
This initiative pivots from the previously branded “The Defiant Ones” to a crypto platform.
Trump’s announcement, made on X (formerly Twitter), reveals his goal of making the U.S. the premier hub for cryptocurrency.
While details about World Liberty Financial’s exact offerings are still emerging, Donald Jr. has hinted at the platform’s potential to disrupt traditional banking by promoting decentralized finance (DeFi). This approach seeks to address financial inequality by providing broader access to financial resources.
In contrast, Eric Trump has suggested that WLFI might involve innovations in digital real estate, including tokenization of assets and trading within virtual environments, such as the metaverse.
This could open up new avenues for digital asset trading and investment.
The launch has quickly gained traction among Trump’s supporters, with WLFI’s Telegram channel rapidly amassing over 52,000 subscribers and its X account attracting 20,000 followers.
The promotional message, “A new era in finance is here,” shows the platform’s aim to capture the excitement and potential of the crypto space.
Trump’s push into cryptocurrency aligns with his broader strategy to appeal to crypto enthusiasts, a move that has already generated significant financial support for his campaign.
The Trump campaign claims to have raised $25 million from crypto-related sources, though this figure remains unverified.
