Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced he is suspending, not ending, his 2024 campaign.
In a live-streamed address from Phoenix on August 23, Kennedy clarified that while he will step back from the race in ten key battleground states, he intends to keep his name on the ballot in others.
Kennedy’s decision comes as he seeks to avoid being a potential “spoiler” in the presidential contest between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.
He expressed doubts about his campaign’s viability due to what he calls systemic censorship and media bias, though he remains hopeful for an unconventional path to victory.
Kennedy had initially launched his campaign as a Democrat, focusing heavily on digital assets and blockchain technology.
However, with the presidential race tightening between Harris and Trump, Kennedy’s strategy aims to influence the outcome indirectly by remaining a candidate in states where he could potentially impact the election.
Kennedy also indicated that he would support Trump in the 2024 election, citing difficulties in engaging with Harris. His campaign has notably centred on crypto issues, contrasting with Harris’s muted stance and Trump’s active engagement with digital currencies.
