Spanish giants FC Barcelona showed no mercy over Newcastle United, beating the English side 7–2 at the Spotify Camp Nou to qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, news.ng reports.
Coming from a 1–1 scoreline last Tuesday in the first leg, Barca had one thing in mind—to win and qualify—and that was masterfully delivered with goals from Raphinha, who scored a brace in the 6th and 72nd minutes.
Marc Bernal and Lamine Yamal found the back of the net in the 18th and 45+7th minutes, with Yamal’s coming from a penalty kick, while Fermín López and Robert Lewandowski sealed the victory with goals in the 51st, 56th and 61st minutes, respectively.
The visitors managed to find the back of the net in the 15th and 20th minutes.
Newcastle’s exit from the tournament will allow them to focus on domestic games.
