Harry Kane says he is eager for Bayern Munich to face Arsenal again in the latter stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League, following Wednesday’s 3-1 loss at the Emirates Stadium.
The clash between two of Europe’s top sides saw Arsenal take an early lead through Jurrien Timber, who headed home from a Bukayo Saka corner. Bayern quickly responded as teenage sensation Lennart Karl leveled the score with a well-timed finish set up by Michael Olise.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta’s substitutions proved decisive. Riccardo Calafiori made an immediate impact, setting up Noni Madueke—a first-half replacement for the injured Leandro Trossard—for the second goal.
The Gunners sealed the win when another substitute, Gabriel Martinelli, received a pass from Eberechi Eze and calmly rounded Manuel Neuer before slotting into an empty net 13 minutes from time.
Kane, who holds the record for the most goals in north London derbies, had a rare off night against Arsenal. Despite the defeat, the English striker remains optimistic about a potential rematch in the later stages of the Champions League.
“Tough game, kind of what we expected,” the England captain told TNT Sports. “A good battle; I thought the first half was fairly even; a draw was probably a fair result.
