A US-based startup, Groq Inc., has announced acquiring Definitive Intelligence Inc. an artificial intelligence inference chips maker for an undisclosed amount.
This development was disclosed by Groq’s co-founder and CEO, Jonathan Ross, in a press release on Saturday.
According to the release, the bulk of the funding was raised through a Series C round co-led by Tiger Global Management and D1 Capital in early 2021.
Definitive Intelligence claims it offers several business-oriented GenAI products, including OpenAssistants and Advisor.
Sunny Madra, the CEO, and co-founder of Definitive Intelligence, will join Groq after the acquisition to oversee the business unit in charge of GroqCloud according to the release.
Ross said that with the agreement, Groq will be able to improve the functionality of GroqCloud, its most recent product, a cloud platform that gives users on-demand access to its AI chips.
“At Groq, we’re committed to creating an AI economy that’s accessible and affordable for anyone with a brilliant idea,” Ross said in the release.
The latest acquisition is Groq’s second acquisition after Maxeler Technologies was acquired in 2022.
