Victor Boniface’s much-anticipated move to AC Milan has been slightly delayed after the Nigerian forward was reportedly asked to undergo additional medical examinations on Saturday.
The 24-year-old striker, who arrived in Italy earlier this week to complete his switch from Bayer Leverkusen, began the routine medical checks expected of all new signings. However, Milan’s medical team requested further tests before finalising the deal.
While the club has not released an official statement, sources close to the negotiations suggest the extended tests are precautionary rather than a sign of any major concern. Milan is said to be keen on thoroughly assessing Boniface’s fitness, given his past injury record. The forward suffered a serious knee injury in 2021 that sidelined him for several months, and the Rossoneri want to ensure there are no long-term risks before finalising the transfer.
Boniface enjoyed a breakout season with Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions, playing a crucial role in their Bundesliga title run. His powerful presence, movement, and clinical finishing convinced Milan to pursue him as the ideal striker to lead their attack.
The deal, worth in the region of €45 million including add-ons, is expected to be completed once the additional medical reports are reviewed. Club officials remain optimistic, with insiders indicating that the transfer is unlikely to collapse unless a significant red flag emerges.
