Arsenal’s near-perfect start to the Premier League came to an end on Saturday as they suffered their second league defeat since a 1-0 loss at Liverpool in August. Aston Villa secured a dramatic 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium, handing the Gunners their first major slip of the season.

Matty Cash gave Villa an early lead, but Leandro Trossard pulled Arsenal level after halftime. However, Emi Buendía struck with the final kick of the game to give Villa a memorable win.

Meanwhile, Manchester City continued to pile pressure on Arsenal with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sunderland. Goals from Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, and Phil Foden sealed the win. Sunderland finished the match with 10 men after Luke O’Nien was shown a red card in the 90th minute following a VAR review.

Elsewhere in Saturday’s Premier League action, Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth, Everton thrashed Nottingham Forest 3-0, and Tottenham defeated Brentford 2-0. In a thriller at Anfield, Liverpool were stunned by Leeds United, who scored a 96th-minute equaliser to draw 3-3 with the Reds.

The results from yesterday’s games have intensified the title race, with Manchester City taking advantage of Arsenal’s slip to strengthen their push at the top of the table.
