From the onset, Madrid lacked firepower and conceded a penalty after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, with Osasuna’s Ante Budimir giving his side the lead.
Madrid remained frustrated even after the break until Brazil international Vinicius Junior restored some hope for his team by reducing the deficit.
With just two points (60) ahead of Barcelona, Madrid’s efforts to turn the game around failed in the closing stages as Raúl García found the back of the net for Osasuna in the 90th minute to make it 2–1, leaving the visitors frustrated after the final whistle.
With a slim lead at the top of the La Liga table, Barcelona, who are second with 58 points, have the opportunity to go top when they face Levante tomorrow, Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Camp Nou.
