Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo has delivered a blunt warning to Manchester United, insisting the Red Devils must quickly address their faltering start to the campaign if they are to salvage their season ambition.
United, who have stumbled through the early fixtures with inconsistent performances and a string of disappointing results, are already facing mounting pressure from fans and pundits. Ruben Amorin’s side has struggled for rhythm, conceding sloppy goals while lacking sharpness in attack.
Mbeumo, speaking in a chat with Sky Sports, stressed the need to take more responsibility because the Premier League leaves no room for prolonged slow starts.
He said, “I think everyone in the team needs to take responsibility. When you play in a club this big, everyone needs to know what to do – as a team, we need to do better.”
Mbeumo also said: “Obviously it’s different, it’s not the same, but the only thing we want to be focused on is ourselves, we just try to listen to what’s going on inside.
“It’s not that hard (to block the noise out), obviously, the main thing we see is on social media, so it’s just not going on there much, and you just have to stay focused on your own things.”
With the season still in its early weeks, United have time to steady their campaign, but pressure is mounting on Ten Hag to find solutions before the situation spirals further.
The Old Trafford side will hope to silence critics when they host Brentford this weekend — but with Mbeumo’s warning ringing out, the Red Devils know their opponents are smelling blood.
