English Premier League (EPL) side West Ham United is set to gazump Italian Serie A club, Juventus in a race to sign France and Nice FC defender, Jean Clair-Todibo.
Juventus were reported to be clear favourites to sign the player after parting ways with Dean Huijsen who has eventually completed a move to EPL side Bournemouth.
Huijsen’s move was supposed to clear the way for Juventus to complete a deal for Todibo who was keen to join Juventus this summer to rejoin Khephren Thuram, who completed a medical with the Serie A team four weeks ago, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
After failing to sign talented Italy and Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, who is reportedly heading to Arsenal, the Bianconeri were hoping to finalize a deal for Todibo.
However, West Ham United is said to have hijacked the move for the player according to a recent report published on the X page (formerly Twitter) by transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.

According to the journalist, Todibo accepted West Ham’s proposal last night and he will now land in London before lunchtime today (Friday) to complete the deal to move to London.
Romano also disclosed that Tim Steidten, the Head of Scouting for West Ham offered an easy obligation to buy clause (€40m almost guaranteed) and sell-on clause (key for Nice) to beat Juventus’ proposal.
‘‘Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham, here we go! Exclusive scoop confirmed as hijack is completed.
‘‘Understand Todibo, his agent and West Ham director Tim Steidten are flying to London right now!
‘‘€40m on loan + obligation, sell-on clause included. Medical booked today.’’ He wrote on his X page.
