The World Bank’s comprehensive social interventions have transformed over 83 communities in Nasarawa State, providing vital infrastructure such as water supply, schools, hospitals, and roads.
The program spans 76 schools, 89 primary healthcare micro-projects, and 73 water projects across the state’s 13 LGAs.
Umar Ibrahim Ayero, the State Coordinator of the NG Cares program, revealed that more than N13 billion has been allocated to these initiatives in Nasarawa.
Among the notable achievements is the reconstruction of a primary school abandoned since 1975, reflecting the program’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in rural areas.
Nasarawa State’s remarkable performance in project implementation has earned it national recognition, securing the top spot in fund distribution for key development projects. Ayero attributes this success to the state’s diligent efforts in prioritizing rural development and effectively utilizing World Bank assistance.
Ayero stated that the collaboration between the World Bank, the state government, and local communities has been instrumental in driving progress.
Through the Community-Driven Development approach, these partnerships have facilitated efficient project implementation and ensured that the benefits reach the most vulnerable members of society.
