There are rumours that Huawei is developing new Taishan cores that will outperform Kirin 9000s by 175% in speed and power efficiency.

According to tipster Jasonwhoill on X (previously Twitter), Huawei is testing new Taishan cores that are faster than Kirin 9000s processors.

These cores are said to achieve extraordinarily low power consumption; their design is akin to Apple’s tiny cores.

If this is accurate, the upcoming Kirin chips should have notable performance increases and improved energy-saving features.

The new cores reportedly achieved 350 points in single-core Geekbench 5 testing, whereas the Kirin 9000 cores got 200 points, according to the source.

The first ARMv9 “LITTLE” CPU cores, the Cortex-A510 low-energy cores, are being used in the Kirin 9000s.

These cores were also present in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip back in 2022.

Newsng gathered that it appears that Huawei is thinking about improving the efficiency and fineness of the tiny energy cores for its gadgets.

The company is also developing the rumoured Kirin PC chip, which might use the Taishan V130 architecture to match the performance of Apple’s M3.

Experts are uncertain if the cores are developed to a high enough standard to be included in Huawei’s upcoming flagship devices.

There is also a lack of information regarding the new Taishan cores.

We take the new information with a grain of salt for the time being as we wait for Huawei to provide us with official facts.

We earlier reported the US has cancelled some licences that let businesses send products, such as processors, to Chinese company, Huawei Technologies, in its latest efforts to curb China’s tech power.
