X’s head of global affairs recently submitted his resignation from the social media powerhouse.
Nick Pickles, who spent a decade with the firm formerly known as Twitter, announced in a release that he decided to depart a few months ago and has since been working with Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, to navigate the transition.
The reasons behind his resignation are unclear, and neither Pickles nor X, owned by Elon Musk, have replied to media enquiries about his departure.
Pickles joined X in 2014 as a senior manager at the company’s London office and progressed through the ranks to become Vice President of Global Affairs by 2023.
According to The Financial Times, Pickles served as X’s spokesperson during its feud with the Brazilian government.
He was regarded as Yaccarino’s right-hand man as she attempted to entice advertisers back to the platform and improve the company’s financial health, according to the report.
Last Monday, the Brazilian authorities outlawed the platform.
It happened after Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the suspension of dozens of accounts accused of spreading falsehoods.
Pickles was one of the few employees of X, formerly known as Twitter, who survived Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of the business in 2022, and he was a close friend of X CEO Linda Yaccarino.
The British executive expressed gratitude for Yaccarino’s support and partnership, adding that he took the choice to depart X several months ago and is “looking forward to taking some time off before a new challenge.”
Pickles’ departure comes after the departure of X’s head of business operations, Joe Benarroch, in June, raising questions about the company’s leadership stability under Musk.
His next career step remains to be seen.
We earlier reported that X has now formally released the beta version of X TV, which it described as “a massive leap forward in transforming X into a video-first platform,” following months of releasing teases of the new TV app.
Elon Musk allegedly hopes that X will rival YouTube.
