Xabi Alonso, the Spanish coach of top German Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen, has disclosed the timeline for Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface’s full recovery.
The coach has commended the striker’s perseverance in returning to the field after he suffered an adductor injury a few days before the start of AFCON 2023 while training with the Super Eagles in Abu Dhabi.
He also had kind words for the bulky 23-year-old attacker, who was recently seen in training and has shown remarkable determination in his recuperation from an injury.
According to Alonso, the striker will be back to full fitness by May or at the latest, by April.
“His (Boniface) development is very good; the recovery is going in the right direction. That’s very positive,” Alonso told Bild.
“We expect Boniface soon; I don’t know, but it won’t be until May, maybe April, and that’s very good for us to have Boniface back. Boni works very well, with great professionalism, twice a day. We need players who have the desire to be back.”
