YouTube unveiled a new feature on Wednesday at the company’s Made on YouTube event.
This tool enables a creator’s current viewers to “hype” a video with a single click, propelling it up the leaderboard of the most popular videos and maybe reaching a larger audience.
YouTube is attempting to concentrate on expanding its smaller channels and assisting users in finding and sharing new creators through a new feature called Hype.
Newsng understands that Hype is a completely new promotional system within the YouTube platform: videos can now be hyped with a new button, and the most hyped videos will show up on a platform-wide leaderboard.
It functions similarly to Trending, but it is more focused on smaller channels and on what users specifically choose to recommend rather than just what they watch.
According to data from YouTube, channels with 500,000 followers frequently see a notable change in growth and income.
A self-sustaining cycle is created when more views are drawn to these bigger channels, which then prompts more suggestions and growth.
Hype seeks to break through this cycle by highlighting independent artists. It presents a novel advertising mechanism that allows users to “hype” films they find entertaining.
The most popular videos will subsequently be featured on a leaderboard that spans the entire platform, providing visibility that goes beyond the conventional algorithm-driven suggestions.
YouTube has been working on Hype since the beginning of 2023 when the company decided to focus more on creating communities within YouTube. (At Wednesday’s Made on YouTube event in New York City, “community” was the buzzword of the day.
We earlier reported that YouTube will restrict the amount of content that teenagers see that promotes and idealizes a particular degree of physical fitness or beauty.
Teens worldwide are now being introduced to safety, which was initially implemented in the United States last year.
