Zamfara executive secretary Isiaka James has called on the state Government to look into ways of promoting involvement in sports.
The secretary said this after receiving a visit from the sports writers association in his office in the state capital.
While speaking, he encouraged that the state sports body is willing to work with any group to advance sporting events in the state.
James assures that the State Government under Gov Dauda Lawal is doing its best to attend to the Sports body of the state.
James states that as the secretary and an executive of the sports department, he is going to ensure that strategic reforms are carried out in the department.
James also assured the Sports Writers Association that he would provide them with the support they might need in carrying out their activities.
The Sportswriters Association received praise from various sports representatives such as the Director of sports, Nasiru Bakura and the sports planning director Shehu Aliyu Zurmi respectively.
They also said they would be working hand in hand with the association and also urged them to widen their media coverage.
News.ng recalls that the SWAN top representatives congratulated the executive secretary Isiaka James on his appointment as sports executive secretary.
The SWAN representatives called on the state’s sports body to include them in their activities within and outside the state.
The group also revealed its plans to continue with its football competition known as SWAN MEDIA CUP which started in August 2023.
The last match of the tournament is scheduled to take place by the end of this month.
This football tournament is open to all media organisations in Zamfara. The objective of the tournament is to promote sporting activities and to foster love and unity among journalists in the province.
The authorities of the state Directorate of Sports in Zamfara pledge to assist SWAN in making the tournament a success.
