Zenith Bank Plc attracted significant investor interest, propelling its market capitalisation to approximately N3 trillion on the stock exchange.

The banking giant’s shares momentarily touched an annual high of N72 on the Nigerian Exchange before settling at N71.50, following minor profit-taking.

This profitable banking stock has met shareholder expectations ahead of second-quarter earnings announcements, with investors anticipating the customary interim dividend distribution.

Multiple equity analysts have revised their projections and price targets upward following last week’s substantial price appreciation. These analyst revisions reflect expectations that investors will continue accumulating the banking stock before earnings disclosure.

The bank’s expansion strategy and substantial technology investments are expected to enhance 2025 earnings, though potential interest rate reductions may compress industry net margins.

Regarding forbearance and single obligor limits, management has addressed concerns about Central Bank dividend restrictions for banks with specific exposures. Nigerian Exchange data shows Zenith Bank Plc closely follows GTCO, the most valuable financial services entity in the market.

The Nigerian Exchange valued Zenith Bank Plc’s 41.069 billion outstanding shares at N2.936 trillion at Monday’s trading session conclusion.

Analysts have increased estimates across tier-1 banks following rapid, intense rallies that triggered revaluations, excluding some category laggards.

The top three banking leaders—GTCO, Zenith Bank, and UBA—have achieved combined valuations of N8 trillion, with the orange-branded institution leading, followed by the Ajose Adeogun-headquartered competitor.

Banking sector indices advanced as these major lenders captured increased investor attention before Q2 2025 earnings releases. Anticipating interim dividend announcements, analysts expect continued position-building in premier banking stocks.
