Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has extended a helping hand to victims of the devastating fire that ravaged the Yola main market in Adamawa State.
Expressing deep sadness over the incident, Atiku announced a donation of N10 million as an initial contribution to a relief fund to support the affected individuals.
Atiku emphasized the importance of collective action in times of crisis and urged fellow Nigerians, particularly those with means, to support the relief efforts.
He wrote on X: ”I am deeply saddened by the report of a fire incident at Yola Main Market.
”Losing a means of livelihood in the face of the current economic hardship is a troubling development.
”May the Almighty replenish the losses and grant reprieve to those affected by this disaster.”
The establishment of the Yola Market Fire Relief Fund seeks to assist the Adamawa State Government in rebuilding the market and providing much-needed assistance to the victims of the fire outbreak.
