The pair of Calvin Bassey and Frank Onyeka will both miss the Super Eagles friendly match against Mali, which is set to be played today (Monday, March 25) in the city of Marrakech, Morocco.
Bassey did not feature in the last game between the Super Eagles and Ghana on Friday due to an unspecified injury, with Benjamin Tanimu taking his place in the three-man defence line-up alongside Chidozie Awaziem and Semi Ajayi.
As things stand, Bassey will return to his English club for more examinations and care due to an injury whose nature or extent is still unknown, via Fulham Fan News.
His teammate, Frank Onyeka, will also miss the match against Mali after he reportedly sustained an unspecified injury during Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly win against Ghana.
According to reports, Onyeka, who participated in the match against Ghana for 90 minutes in Marrakech, has already left for his base in England to receive additional medical attention for his injury.
According to additional sources, 26-year-old Onyeka travelled to England with Bassey, who is likewise unable to play the friendly game against Mali due to injury.
